The Children’s Museum of Wilmington Hosts Last Sensory Sunday of 2025 on December 7th

Wilmington, NC — December 1, 2025 — The Children’s Museum of Wilmington is thrilled to host their last bi-monthly Sensory Sunday event on December 7th from 10am to 12pm.

Sensory Sunday is a reoccurring Museum event offering special sensory-friendly experiences for children with sensory sensitivities and their families. Each Sensory Sunday, the Museum adjusts its standard operating procedures to accommodate children with varying sensory, developmental, and physical needs.

Guests will have their own unique Museum experience with fewer guests, light and sound reduction, and more. In addition to environmental adjustments, the Museum will offer free Power Packs, headphones, and sound maps that can be checked out at the front desk throughout the event.

Sensory Sunday has been hosted by the Children's Museum of Wilmington for several years and has continued to grow to serve as many of our community's children as possible. "Providing a dedicated time for our sensory-sensitive guests and their caregivers is truly an honor,” said Alicia Scanlan, Director of Advancement. “Sensory Sunday ensures a calmer, gentler Museum experience—one with fewer crowds, reduced noise, and less overwhelm. By offering this special program, we’re continuing our mission to create a safe, welcoming place where curiosity can flourish and playful learning is accessible to every child.”

The Museum will continue to host Sensory Sundays next year, with the next event being scheduled for February 1, 2026.

December 7th's Sensory Sunday is $5 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online ahead of the event.
