The Children’s Museum of Wilmington Hosts Bi-Monthly "Sensory Sunday" on August 3rd with Opal Autism Centers

Wilmington, NC — July 16, 2025 — The Children’s Museum of Wilmington is excited to collaborate with Opal Autism Centers at their bi-monthly Sensory Sunday event on August 3rd from 10am to 12pm.

Sensory Sunday is a special reoccurring event offering sensory friendly experiences for visitors with sensory sensitivities. During this exclusive opportunity, the Museum changes its standard operating procedures to specifically account for children with varying sensory, developmental, and physical needs. Guests will experience a more comfortable environment with fewer guests, adjusted exhibits, light and sound reduction, and more. In addition to environment adjustments, Power Packs containing sensory resources can be checked out at the front desk.

Sensory Sunday has been hosted by the Children's Museum of Wilmington for several years and continues to grow with the help from event sponsors like Opal Autism Centers. Events like Sensory Sunday are essential for reaching the variety of needs of our community's children.

Opal Autism Centers is a returning sponsor for Sensory Sunday that specializes in offering comprehensive autism services for families throughout New Hanover County and the surrounding counties.
