Furry and Feathered Friends Stop by the Children's Museum of Wilmington for Family Farm Day

Wilmington, NC — May 6, 2026 — The Children's Museum of Wilmington is excited to host another Family Farm Day on Saturday, May 16th from 9am to 12pm, open to all silly goats and happy folks.

The Museum's annual Family Farm Day is a Museum staple event that allows guests to engage with the facility and farm animals in an entirely new way. During Family Farm Day, the Museum transforms their outdoor courtyard into a pop-up petting zoo featuring friendly farm animal friends from McNally’s Farm. Visitors of all ages can look forward to meeting and interacting with a range of animals including chicks, bunnies, goats, and more! Whether it is a child’s first or fifth time attending Family Farm Day, they are bound to create comfortable and meaningful memories with animals that are sure to last a lifetime.

“Family Farm Day is one of our favorite annual events,” said Anna Harris, Program Coordinator at the Museum. “It’s a chance for children to engage with unique animals, ask questions, and connect with the world of farming. We’re excited for a morning of animal encounters and farm-themed play!”

The fun of Family Farm Day goes beyond the petting zoo. In addition to the animals, the Museum will also host a range of farm-themed activities inside the Museum to keep the fun rolling all morning long. Guests can expect to create hen-tastic headwear, play a creative game of cornhole, learn farm-themed dances, and more!

"Guests may visit Family Farm Day to see the animals, but they stick around when they see all of the other farm festivities we have throughout the Museum," said Museum Educator and Family Farm Day Planner, Sally Mabie. "We love the opportunity to create one-of-a-kind experiences for kiddos in our community with events like Family Farm Day." 

Tickets for Family Farm Day are $5 for members and $15 for non-members and can be purchased at https://www.playwilmington.org/farm.
