Children’s Museum of Wilmington offering free sensory-friendly events

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - The Children’s Museum of Wilmington has announced it is partnering with BrightBridge ABA to host free “Sensory Sunday” events for the rest of the year.

According to the museum, “Sensory Sunday” is a bi-monthly event that offers a self-guided, sensory-friendly experience for children with varying sensory, developmental and physical needs.

On Sensory Sunday, attendees can expect fewer guests, reduced lighting and sound, and designated calming spaces from 10 a.m. to noon. Capacity for the events is monitored at the door.

“We are grateful to BrightBridge ABA for their commitment to ensuring more families can access Sensory Sunday,” Jessie Goodwin, Executive Director of the Children’s Museum of Wilmington, said. “Their support allows us to remove financial barriers and continue providing a welcoming, sensory-friendly experience where children and caregivers can explore, connect, and play together. Partnerships like this help us create a stronger, more inclusive community for all families.”

The free Sensory Sundays will be held on the following dates:

• Oct. 4
