The Children’s Museum of Wilmington Unveils Reimagined "Animal Alley" Exhibit in Partnership with Pine Valley Animal Hospital

Wilmington, NC — June 5, 2025 — The Children’s Museum of Wilmington is excited to announce the grand reopening of its beloved Animal Alley exhibit with a special ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, June 13th. This freshly redesigned space, sponsored by Pine Valley Animal Hospital, invites children to explore the world of veterinary care through imaginative, hands-on play and real-world learning.
Long a favorite among museum visitors, Animal Alley still features cats and dogs, but now offers a deeper focus on the role of veterinary science. The expanded exhibit guides young learners through a complete vet care experience—examining symptoms, diagnosing needs, and offering treatments such as boarding, surgery, and more.
“We are thrilled to breathe new life into a well-loved exhibit,” said Jessie Goodwin, Executive Director of The Children’s Museum of Wilmington. “Through engaging role play and STEM-based activities, children can build empathy, curiosity, and critical thinking skills while learning what it takes to keep our furry friends healthy. We’re especially grateful to Pine Valley Animal Hospital for helping us bring this vision to life.”
In addition to its immersive play areas, Animal Alley encourages budding veterinarians to assess their patients, make treatment decisions, and even snap a photo next to a "Future Veterinarian" diploma. These activities introduce visitors to core concepts in biology, medical science, and animal care in a playful, age-appropriate way.
Pine Valley Animal Hospital provided expert guidance throughout the redesign and will continue supporting the exhibit with educational input and ongoing partnership.
"As a proud member of the Wilmington community, Pine Valley Animal Hospital is thrilled to support The Children's Museum of Wilmington. The Children's Museum is designed to engage, inspire, and educate our youngest minds. Within this exhibit, children will discover their passions through interactive exploration and creativity, laying a foundation for lifelong learning and a love for animals. Beyond the exhibit, this museum embodies our commitment to the community. We cherish all our friends and family here in Wilmington, both two-legged and four-legged."
The ribbon cutting ceremony is open to the public and will take place at 10:30am on June 13, 2025 at The Children’s Museum of Wilmington.
