The Children’s Museum of Wilmington Launches "Pay it Your Way" Campaign for their 2025 Mission Month

Wilmington, NC — July 21, 2025 — This August, The Children’s Museum of Wilmington (CMoW) invites the community to participate in its annual Mission Month with a fresh and engaging theme: “Pay it Your Way.” On Sundays throughout the month, museum guests will have the opportunity to choose their own admission price—either paying what they can or choosing to pay it forward by covering admission for the next family through the doors.

“We wanted to bring the focus of Mission Month back to the heart of our work: community,” said Jessie Goodwin, Executive Director of The Children’s Museum of Wilmington. “'Pay it Your Way' is not only a fun way to welcome new and returning guests, it’s also a chance to see how people in our community choose to give back, in their own way, on their own terms.”

Unlike past Mission Month campaigns, which partnered with specific nonprofit organizations, this year’s initiative centers on empowering guests themselves to shape the impact. Whether a family chooses to give what they can, or to generously cover the cost for others, each action contributes to a shared sense of generosity and belonging.

“Play should be accessible to all children, and this model gives everyone a chance to be part of that mission,” Goodwin added. “We’re excited to see how Wilmington shows up for one another.”

“Pay it Your Way” will be available every Sunday in August 2025 during regular museum hours (excluding Sensory Sunday on August 3rd). Standard admission remains in place on other days, with all admissions supporting the Museum’s interactive exhibits, early childhood programs, and community access initiatives.
