The Children’s Museum of Wilmington Celebrates 29 Years in the Community with Extended Hours on October 10

Wilmington, NC — September 28, 2026 — The Children’s Museum of Wilmington (CMoW) is celebrating 29 years of serving children in Southeastern North Carolina on October 10, 2026. CMoW was dreamed up by a local taskforce of parents, with help from The Junior League of Wilmington, to provide meaningful and impactful hands-on learning opportunities for children throughout the community. Since its first opening in 1997, the Museum has grown into a staple play space for local families and continues to be the lead advocate for play in the region.

The Museum will celebrate their 29th birthday with extended play hours on October 10th from 6pm to 8pm. The evening will feature several hands-on birthday activities that encourage STEM, art, and literacy learning in addition to open exhibit play.

"We're excited to expand the opportunity to play on our birthday this year by adding additional hours," said Anna Harris, Program Coordinator at the Children's Museum of Wilmington. "In addition to regular exhibits, some birthday themed activities will be sprinkled throughout the Museum. We hope guests will come enjoy our birthday doing our favorite thing - playing together!"

The Children’s Museum of Wilmington is dedicated to planning engaging educational opportunities for children and their birthday celebration is no exception. Guests will celebrate the legacy of the Museum by participating in hands-on activities designed to promote art, science, and literacy-focused learning in an encouraging and safe environment.
