Children’s Museum of Wilmington celebrating 29 years with extended hours
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Children’s Museum of Wilmington is celebrating its 29th anniversary with extended hours and special activities next month.
The museum will mark its anniversary Oct. 10 with extended play hours from 6 to 8 p.m. The evening will include birthday-themed activities focused on STEM, art and literacy, along with access to the museum’s regular exhibits.
The Children’s Museum of Wilmington first opened in 1997 after a local task force of parents, with help from the Junior League of Wilmington, worked to establish a space offering hands-on learning opportunities for children.
“We’re excited to expand the opportunity to play on our birthday this year by adding additional hours,” Program Coordinator Anna Harris said. “In addition to regular exhibits, some birthday themed activities will be sprinkled throughout the Museum. We hope guests will come enjoy our birthday doing our favorite thing – playing together!”
The museum says the anniversary activities will focus on art, science and literacy while recognizing its nearly three decades in the Wilmington community.
