Children’s Museum of Wilmington Announces Callfor Muralist Submissions for 2025

Wilmington, NC – March 25, 2025 – The Children’s Museum of Wilmington (CMoW) is excited to announce the selection process for a new mural in the Port Wing of the Museum. The mural is made possible by a grant from the North Carolina Arts Council and Arts North Carolina, and awarded through the Arts Council of Wilmington and New Hanover County with matching funds from the Museum. This public art initiative aims to enhance the Museum experience for children aged 0-10 and their caregivers while celebrating the creative talent of North Carolina-based artists.
Artists interested in this opportunity are invited to submit proposals (including concept sketch, artist statement, and portfolio samples) in response to a Request for Proposals (RFP) outlining theme details, mural dimensions, project requirements, start date, and budget. The selection committee will evaluate submissions based on alignment with the RFP, artistic merit, and resonance with the Museum’s audience.
“We are excited to partner with an artist from the Cape Fear area or North Carolina. The selection process is informal, encouraging artists to explore the theme of our beautiful region creatively,” said Jessie Goodwin, Executive Director of the Children’s Museum of Wilmington.
Interested artists should review the Request for Proposals and submit their proposals by the April 2, 2025 4:00 PM deadline. More information, including the full RFP, can be found on the CMoW website under “SUPPORT” or by contacting the Museum directly.
The Museum sees this as a wonderful opportunity to show an artist at work and to highlight the critical importance of the arts in our communities. Additionally it will introduce littles to the possibilities of creativity. Join us in creating a vibrant and inspiring piece of public art for our community’s youngest learners and their caregivers!
