Children Museum of Wilmington to host ribbon cutting on refurbished exhibit

WILMINGTON — The popular Wilmington children’s museum exhibit, the ‘Neighborhood Nook,’ is set to reopen with new features such as an upgraded playhouse. 

The Children’s Museum of Wilmington will host a ribbon cutting for its renovated exhibit which will reopen Friday, July 24, at 10:30 a.m. The refreshed exhibit includes Charlie’s House, a playhouse for children, and the interactive Giving Tree. 

The museum is a nonprofit whose mission is to promote “hands-on art, science, and literac

y-focused learning.” The organization first opened its doors to the public in 1997 and has continued to expand since, buying three buildings in historic downtown in 2004.

Refurbishments were completed in partnership with Salt Air Inc., a local heating, cooling and electrical company. 

“Supporting the Children’s Museum of Wilmington is an investment in the next generation, and we are proud to be part of its continued growth and success,” Vice President of Salt Air Brooke Skipper said in a press release

The Children’s museum expressed their thanks to Salt Air, saying it shares the museum’s commitment of strengthening the community.

“Their support of the Neighborhood Nook helps us advance our mission of providing hands-on opportunities for children to learn, explore, and grow through play,” Director of Advancement Allan Lusk said. “Together, we’re creating a space where imagination can flourish and every child can experience a sense of belonging and wonder.”
