Kids Celebrate the New Year in Unique Way at Annual Children's Museum Event

DOWNTOWN WILMINGTON, NC- Only a few more days until the New Year and The Children's Museum of Wilmington is already preparing for the weekend's special event. Kids in Wilmington will have the chance to celebrate 2018 early with a special party just for them. The Museum hosts its annual New Year's Noon celebration this Sunday December 31st from 9am - 12pm.

A unique take on a traditional New Year's countdown, the Children's Museum celebration culminates with an epic confetti toss in the courtyard at noon. The event also features a chance for kids to toast to 2018 with juice, make a party crown, streamer sticks, glittery slime and more.

"It's a great way for families to celebrate New Year's with kids since most are asleep at that hour," Kathleen King, Director of Operations and Guest Services, said. "It's a really great event for kids and families to come together." King says this is even a tradition for families some traveling as far as a few hours away to attend the special event.

New Year's Noon will mark the close of an exciting year for the Museum. They have added several new exhibits, secured funding for needed facility maintenance (including replacing most of the HVAC), and have started construction on a new virtual reality exhibit which will open early in 2018. To top it all off the Museum also celebrated 20 years of service to the community and plans to continue to be a permanent community resource for many more years to come.

Pre-sale tickets for New Year's Noon are available online or at the Museum. To learn more about this event and other upcoming events at The Children's Museum of Wilmington visit www.playwilmington.org/special-events.
