MUSIC IS A UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE.

ABOUT THE EDUCATOR
Dara Kahkonen is all about music. Coming from a very musical family in the Pittsburgh area with a father who performed jazz all over town, a mother that was a dancer in a folk-dance troupe, and in which all of her four siblings played more than one instrument, music was her origin story. Dara’s collegiate studies in music education at Ithaca College gave her an intimate knowledge of music theory, style, and performance. While in college, she became the director of the instrumental music program at All Saints Academy in Corning, NY, which thrived under her enthusiastic leadership. This led her to teaching private piano, flute, and trumpet lessons at a prestigious Music Academy in New York City. She is the owner of Music Bird Studios in Wilmington, North Carolina and the Operations Coordinator at The Children's Museum of Wilmington.
Fun fact: Miss Dara is learning to rock climb.
Favorite food: Miss Dara's favorite food is fresh pineapple.
