FAQ's
Where are you located?
The Children's Museum of Wilmington is located at 116 Orange Street in beautiful Downtown Wilmington at the corner of Orange and Second, two blocks from the Cape Fear Riverwalk.
What will the children take away from the visit?
Our programs and exhibits are designed to engage children with varied learning styles and interests. Whether it be conducting an experiment at the Science Counter or creating a masterpiece in the Art Studio, all children visiting are sure to find a favorite.
What ages should the children visiting be?
The special audience our programming and exhibits are designed for are children ages 0 to 10. If they can play, they can learn!
How long should we plan to be there?
Plan for 2 to 3 hours to explore the Museum. When planning, keep in mind the interests of your children, as a little artist might spend some extra time in our Studio or a future chemist might be hard to tear away from the Science Counter.
Where can we park?
There is metered parking located on both Orange and Second Streets, and a public parking deck is located a short walking distance away off Market Street. A free trolley runs every 20 minutes from the parking deck on Market Street to the front door of the Museum.
How long can we stay?
Admission covers you for the entire day. You may leave to have lunch or run an errand and come back during any remaining open hours. Just be sure to keep your admission sticker on.
Can we bring our own food into the Museum? If so, where can we eat?
Yes! Please feel free to pack snacks or sacked lunches. If weather permits, you are welcome to enjoy your lunch in our outdoor courtyard. In the case of inclement weather, the Museum staff will try and accommodate you at an indoor location. We also sell juices, coffee and healthy snacks...or order a pizza from the Domino's hotline in our lobby! The Museum benefits from each pizza delivered to the Museum, yummy!
Is the Museum handicap-accessible?
Yes. The handicap and stroller entrance is located on Second Street.
What about moms with infants?
For your comfort, we have a quiet, private nursing room, as well as changing tables and diaper disposals in the restrooms. Strollers are welcome too!
